In Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine “On Basic Principles and Requirements for Organic Production, Circulation and Labelling of Organic Products” (hereinafter - the Law on Organic Production) was adopted, as well as the relevant normative legal acts necessary for the implementation of this Law were approved.
Currently, the process of accreditation of organic certification bodies is underway, after which the certification of organic market operators and the creation of registers in accordance with the requirements of the Law on Organic Production will begin. The implementation of this Law will have a significant impact on both individual operators and the organic sector and the country's economy.
In order to assess the state of the organic sector and the impact of the Law at all levels, the project "German-Ukrainian Cooperation Organic Agriculture" conducted a study of the micro- and macroeconomic impact of the implementation of the Law “On Basic Principles and Requirements for Organic Production, Circulation and Labelling of Organic Products” in Ukraine *
In the process of research at the micro level, the activities of individual organic operators, information on production, certification, sales channels and expectations from the implementation of organic legislation in Ukraine were analyzed.
Macro-level analysis covered trends and development of the agricultural sector, general conditions for the production and development of Ukrainian organic agriculture with an overview of the economy and socio-political situation.
The study of micro- and macroeconomic impact allows not only to look at the state of the organic sector before the start of a full-scale war, but also can become the basis for further analysis of the sector in Ukraine under the current situation, which directly affects organic agriculture and requires new approaches to conducting activities.
