From 23rd to 27th September 2020 the Association Biodynamika Ukraine and Farm Schiwa Semlja Potutory GmbH, with the support of the German-Ukrainian Cooperation Organic Agriculture (COA), conducted a training course on the production of biodynamic preparations and their special application in organic viticulture.

With this course, which was based on the autumn course 2019, the two associations were able to successfully pursue their goal of making the biodynamic farming method known to wider circles - especially practitioners - in Ukraine. The approx. 20 participants appreciated the practical demonstration of the applications on the biodynamic vineyard "Shaleni Doli" in the Odesa region. Throughout the training the necessary measures in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic were complied with.

Barbara Steinemann, head of the preparations department of Demeter Switzerland, was won as the main speaker. In addition to passing on practical knowledge about the production of biodynamic preparations, Mrs. Steinemann, who has been intensively involved in the subject of substances and biodynamic agriculture for many years, gave also a lecture on regenerative agriculture, a relatively new method which is focused on the maintenance and development of soil fertility.

The Association Organic Ukraine contributed with an online presentation about the current status of the organic legislation process in Ukraine. Participants were informed about the requirements for organic farms, but also about the opportunities of the new Organic Law. This important topic was subsequently discussed intensively by the participants.
