Following the implementation of the Organic Law in Ukraine, the COA-Project organizes a study tour to Germany for representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture and the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

The Organic Law in Ukraine that recently entered into force, defines the basic principles and requirements for organic production, trade and labelling of organic products. It also aims to harmonize the Ukrainian legislation with the European norms and to improve the organic market of Ukraine. With that in mind, both organic operators and relevant authorities will be challenged with the new tasks.

The study tour will focus on exchange of practical information with organic operators, control bodies and competent authorities in Germany. The institutions to be visited will share their experience on operator registers, seed and interaction with competent authorities as well as other aspects of the organic legislation.

To be able to get an insight from different perspectives, the following institutions are included into the program:

Wirtschaftsbehörde Hamburg, competent authority¨

Gesellschaft für Resourcenschutz (GfRS), organic control body

Dihlmann Organic Trading (DOT), certified farm and importing company

Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL).

The study tour will be organized by COA in cooperation with Organic Services, Germany.
