Under this motto, another expert information trip organized by the German-Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD) in cooperation with the German-Ukrainian Organic Farming Cooperation (COA) project took place in Brussels in mid-May 2025.
The Ukrainian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Food Safety Agency of Ukraine, the Agricultural Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of various professional associations of Ukrainian agriculture, the Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Ukrainian and German scientists.
Over the three days in Brussels, the group informed and held discussions with many representatives of the European Commission, members of the European Parliament, the farmers' organization COPA-COGECA, representatives of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and members of the “Eurogroup for Animals”, an association of over 100 animal welfare organizations in the EU. The focus of all meetings over the three days was on the current situation of conventional and organic agriculture in Ukraine, the status of the harmonization of Ukrainian laws with EU requirements, issues of duty-free trade, and many other topics in the fields of agriculture, environmental protection and animal welfare. Conclusion: The trip provided valuable impetus for Ukraine's rapprochement with the EU, deepened mutual understanding, and underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue in all areas. This is a good basis for Ukraine's further progress toward EU membership.
Project manager Dr. Stefan Dreesmann participated on behalf of the German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture project.
